What's New in Stylin' 2?

The Second Edition has been extensively updated, with plenty of new and improved material for readers of the first edition.

Chapters 1 through 3 have been re-edited to provide greater detail and improved structure. Chapters 4 through 7 have been entirely re-written in a way that is hopefully yet-easier to understand, while getting deeper into the techniques illustrated. These revisions reflects feedback from hundreds of readers, and I thank everyone who took the time to write to me with their comments and ideas. Virtually every screenshot and graphic in the book has been updated. The book also contains updated information on:

  • Working with Internet Explorer 6 and 7
  • Creating Web 2.0 Layouts
  • Core CSS techniques, such as positioning context, floating and clearing, and hover-based menus and pop-outs.
  • Coding XHTML and CSS for Forms
  • Creating Vertical and Horizontal Multi-Level Menus
  • ..and lots more.

The Second Edition also introduces Stylib', a library of CSS templates and files. Stylib' allows you to quickly create standards-compliant Web sites that work in all modern browsers. The Stylib' files are available to registered users of this site.

I have made the most of the opportunity to revisit and re-present this material and I think, whether you have the original edition or not, you will find plenty in this new edition to challenge and inspire you.
